Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Target Bournemouth Left Back Milos Kerkez

The 21-year-old Hungarian has yet to show consistency in the Premier League but has promise and a suitable profile.
With first choice Liverpool left back Andy Robertson now 30 years of age while deputy Kostas Tsimikas is 28, Liverpool have both quality and depth in the position at the present but most expect any longer-term succession planning to require a new signing over the next summer or two.
Into that mix come reports this week out of Hungary, where M4 Sport claim to have reached out to sources close to 21-year-old Bournemouth left back Milos Kerkez and confirmed rumours that Liverpool are in negotiations with the young Hungarian international over a potential summer move.
Kerkez arrived at Bournemouth in summer of 2023 from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar for an undisclosed fee as a signing of Richard Hughes, who moved to the Reds as Michael Edwards' new sporting director last summer, a situation which could either make him an obvious target or a lazy link.
So far with The Cherries the young fullback has made 42 total appearances for the Premier League side, showing both promise and an attacking profile that on paper seem suitable for Liverpool but also—likely to be expected given his age—a lack of consistency in the level of his performances to date.
It would be fair to question, then, Kerkez is close to being ready to make the step up to a club like Liverpool, at least as a starter, but as a player who could be given time to acclimatize and grow behind Robertson for a season or two he would seem at least a plausible transfer target.
