Liverpool came away 4-0 winners against Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup, with Trent Alexander-Arnold the star of the show for the Reds.

After a nightmare performance last weekend against Manchester United, Alexander-Arnold showed the world why he is considered one of the best right-backs on the planet with an excellent performance against League Two Accrington Stanley at Anfield.

With Alexander-Arnold scoring as pundit Lucy Ward noted how happy the Liverpool defender was, it was a much-needed performance for the fullback after weeks of criticism and more transfer speculation surrounding a move to Real Madrid.

And Glenn Murray believes Alexander-Arnold did something that reminded the pundit of a United legend.

Alexander-Arnold likened to David Beckham after ‘sublime’ goal

Speaking on Final Score, the former Premier League striker compared the goalscoring Liverpool star to former England captain David Beckham, with Murray saying: “He makes it look so effortless. His technique is sublime, the way he strikes the ball, it’s Beckham-esque.”

After a turbulent few weeks, the ship seems to have settled for Alexander-Arnold even with the looming cloud of the defender potentially joining Madrid still hanging in the air, a transfer that Liverpool officials now believe is likely to happen.

Indeed, the 26-year-old’s performance against Accrington Stanley was one that the fullback needed to get supporters back on his side, though Liverpool fans seem to be on Alexander-Arnold’s side already after chants heard during Wednesday’s loss against Tottenham.

And comparisons to Beckham will help Alexander-Arnold win more supporters back on his side after a dramatic few weeks, with the defender now focused on winning as much silverware as possible with Liverpool this season.

Is there any hope that Alexander-Arnold stays at Liverpool?

Of the three Liverpool stars currently set for free-agency this summer, Alexander-Arnold is arguably the one who looks all-but guanreteed to leave Anfield at the end of this season, with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk still in talks with the Reds.

As we know, Alexander-Arnold has won everything there is to win at Liverpool and at 26-years-old is at the prime of his career, conditions that make a move to Madrid near-perfect for the England international this summer.

And as much as Liverpool fans will want Alexander-Arnold to stay, most supporters know that the defender simply can’t say no to a move to Madrid, a dream transfer for every player that would tempt anyone when presented the opportunity.
