'There will be': Peter Crouch makes bold prediction as his former sides Liverpool and Tottenham meet on Sunday

Liverpool head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday looking for revenge for their visit last season.

The Reds were on the receiving end of one of the worst decisions in Premier League history in September 2023 when a mix up in the VAR room led to Luis Diaz’s goal being wrongly disallowed.

Jurgen Klopp felt the only fair way to sort things out was for the game to be replayed, and while that was never going to happen, Liverpool can get their own back this weekend.

It certainly won’t be easy in North London, though. Spurs are coming off the back of a 4-3 Carabao Cup win over Man United having previously smashed Southampton 5-0 in the Premier League.

Liverpool could also go into the match in second place in the table, with a win for Chelsea over Everton earlier in the day relegating them to a runners up spot.

With all of that on the line in the final fixture before Christmas, former Liverpool and Tottenham striker Peter Crouch has predicted the score.

Peter Crouch predicts Liverpool to beat Tottenham

Crouch played with relative distinction for both Liverpool and Spurs during his career.

The gangly hit-man came through at the Tottenham academy but left for QPR before making a senior appearance.

After making his way to Anfield via Portsmouth, Aston Villa and Southampton, Crouch then re-joined Spurs in 2009.

As a result, the 43-year-old is well placed to guess what will happen whenever the two teams meet. And speaking on That Peter Crouch Podcast, Crouch boldly predicted a goal-filled, exciting game which Liverpool will win.

“Difficult one for me this, obviously I’ve got big allegiances to both of these clubs,” said the pundit.

“There will be goals in this game, I think it will be end to end, I think it’ll be really exciting, but I fancy Liverpool to edge this.”

“I think it’ll be really tight but I think when Spurs open up more Liverpool could score more. So, I am going to say this is Liverpool 3-1 but I think it’ll be a tight game.”

Only two injury issues for Liverpool

This is a really big game for Liverpool. Having dropped points in each of their past two Premier League matches, they cannot afford to do the same again.

If Chelsea win and the Reds fail to beat Spurs, it will be Enzo Maresca’s team who will be top at Christmas.

Thankfully, after several weeks of struggling with injury, Arne Slot has confirmed that the Liverpool squad is nearing full availability.

Slot spoke on Friday to say that only Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley are missing for the Reds’ visit to Tottenham.

Spurs have scored five – but conceded six – more than Liverpool this season. With a hectic game usually ensuing when these two meet, Slot will benefit from having most of his players available.
