'They are fools': Everton supporter Tony Bellew left fuming over what Liverpool have done now

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons for Liverpool fans in recent weeks.
Real Madrid have stepped up their efforts in a big way to sign Alexander-Arnold ahead of the summer with Roy Keane slamming the Liverpool defender on the weekend after his nightmare performance for the Reds against Manchester United.
With Arne Slot saying Alexander-Arnold was ‘disappointed’ with everything that’s currently happened, the defender is going through a real low point with Liverpool, with the January transfer window not making things any easier for the fullback.
And former boxer and famed Everton supporter Tony Bellew has now taken shots at Liverpool’s FSG owners over how they’ve treated Alexander-Arnold.
Bellew defends Alexander-Arnold and points fingers at Liverpool owners
Speaking to TalkSport, the Toffee fan slammed FSG for allowing Alexander-Arnold’s contract to enter it’s final six months and for not foreseeing the need to tie down the defender as well as other key Liverpool players to new long-terms when the Reds challenged for the title two years ago.
Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are also current set to become free-agents, and Bellew voiced his amazement that a club like Liverpool would allow three key players to end up in the same contract situation heading into the summer.

Bellew said when talking about Liverpool’s contract issues: “Trent’s had season after season of amazing football, as soon as his first year or two years of a contract are up, why aren’t Liverpool going: ‘We need you to renew again now.’
“I blame the board 100%, they are fools for having their most important three players up for contract all together, they should have gone two seasons ago when Liverpool were chasing the league: ‘You’re doing amazing, we’re really happy for you, can you put pens to paper now.'”
Criticism from an Everton fan will sting Liverpool’s owners
Rival clubs usually have a one-sided opinion on enemy matters, yet in the case of Everton fan Bellew, the former boxing superstar is bang on the money on his criticism of FSG and how they’ve gone about the contract sagas surrounding the likes of Alexnader-Arnold.
The England international is one of the club’s most important players and should have been awarded a new contract way before this season even started, with the fullback now looking set to leave Merseyside for good in the summer.
And for Liverpool’s owners, Bellew’s comments will hurt, even more so with the fact that many Anfield supporters would agree with what the former boxer had to say on the current contract sagas that are engulfing the Premier League leaders.
