Liverpool are back in Premier League action this weekend, with the Reds hosting Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

With three wins from three and zero goals conceded, Arne Slot has started well at his new home after succeeding Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool in the summer, with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold looking sharp already.

With Alexander-Arnold thriving this international break with England, Liverpool’s star players return to Merseyside this week in top form, though there was one causality as Harvey Elliott suffered a fractured foot with the Three Lions’ U-21s.

And Jamie Carragher has now predicted how Liverpool will get on against Forest.

Liverpool tipped to beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 with a weakened side

Speaking on Stick to Football, the Liverpool legend predicted the Reds to secure an easy 2-0 win against Forest, with Carragher also tipping Slot to rotate his starting XI ahead of the return of the UEFA Champions League next week.

Liverpool travel to the San Siro on Tuesday where they will face AC Milan in their first European game of the season under the new Champions League format, a competition Slot will be intent on winning.

And for Carragher, Liverpool believes they will rest some players on Saturday with one eye looking ahead to Tuesday’s trip to Milan, though the pundit still thinks the Reds have what it takes to secure another three points against Forest.

Carragher said when asked to predict this weekend’s result: “2-0, probably rest a couple for Milan. They’ll be in control and they’ll make it slower after an hour, so I’m going 2-0 with a couple of changes for the Milan game.”

Slot would be wise to rotate Liverpool’s XI vs Forest

Slot has been quite rigid with his starting XIs in the first three games of the season for Liverpool, yet that could change this weekend with Forest coming to Anfield and the Reds travelling to Italy a few days later.

Liverpool have an abundance of options on the bench who are waiting for their chance to impress under Slot, with Darwin Nunez, Curtis Jones and Federico Chiesa hardly featuring for the Anfield side this season.

Indeed, this weekend could be a great opportunity for a number of fringe options to earn their stripes under Slot, and many Liverpool players will be hopeful of getting a few minutes against Forest at Anfield.
