Liverpool are really enjoying themselves under Arne Slot this season, with the Reds sitting second in the Premier League table.

Pat Nevin thinks Liverpool's rivals are worried about their form under Slot, with the Merseyside club just one point behind league leaders Man City.

Slot guided Liverpool to another important point against Arsenal on Sunday, with the clubs playing out a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium.

Nigel Reo-Coker thinks Liverpool need a striker to really drive their way towards the title, but it remains to be seen if Slot will sanction such a signing in January.

Arsenal are now four points behind the Anfield club following the stalemate, with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah having scored for the away side.

Didi Hamann favours Liverpool over Man City for PL title

Former Anfield icon Didi Hamann has now shared his verdict on the title race following the latest results, with Man City having edged past Southampton 1-0 to go top.

Discussing the Manchester outfit winning while not playing at their very best, he said on talkSPORT: "That's the sign of a good team. I think it's similar to Liverpool, I think if you don't play well and win games it's always a very good sign. That's what they do.

"We know they've got a lot of quality still in their team. The question will be can they last a season without Rodri, because he's the heartbeat of their team. If you haven't got the defensive stability, if you haven't got the balance in your team it also affects the offensive play of your club.

"And this is why I slightly favour Liverpool. I think Liverpool have got a great chance this season to go one better. Arsenal played out of their skin the last two seasons, couldn't get the job done so I don't think they will be a title winner this season.

"I think it will be between City and Liverpool, and at the moment I've got to say I slightly favour Liverpool because of the absence of Rodri."

Arne Slot won't thinking about Premier League title race

Slot will certainly not be thinking about the Premier League title at this moment in time, even if some of the Anfield faithful are.

But the more realistic of Liverpool supporters will simply be taking each game as it comes, especially given the need to progress in other competitions.

The Reds only just played in the Champions League before their clash with Arsenal, while their next game comes in the League Cup against Brighton.

One certainty is that Slot has done a superb job in the dugout thus far, particularly given the huge boots he needed to fill after Jurgen Klopp's exit.

Everyone connected with the Merseyside club will, however, be well aware that the likes of Man City and Arsenal could still reach another level in the coming months.
