'Trouble is': Richard Keys says he 'wants to buy Liverpool' but has the same problem as Elon Musk

Transfer windows tend to be a time when Liverpool fans take a dim view of their ownership situation.
While other clubs around them splash the proverbial cash, the Reds are often seen to be sitting on their hands.
Whether that’s fair or not is up for debate, but a portion of the fanbase certainly think the Liverpool owners lack the ambition to lead a club the size of the Reds.
However, in terms of football owners, it is always wise to be careful what you wish for.
For Liverpool, rumours that Elon Musk is keen on taking over at Anfield have started to surface and that is ominous news.
Luckily, reports have confirmed that FSG do not want to sell Liverpool and are not entertaining offers from Musk. If and when the Americans do decide to sell up, though, it seems that the SpaceX billionaire may have competition from presenter Richard Keys.
Richard Keys throws his hat in the ring
The majority of Liverpool supporters are likely to be relieved that Musk will not be taking over at Anfield any time soon.
The 53-year-old’s values simply do not line up with those of the football club.
When FSG finally do decide they are ready to move on, though, it is going to be tricky to find someone who feels like the perfect fit.
According to Keys, however, the Liverpool owners have no plans to sell anytime soon. Not even to him.

“I want to buy Liverpool as well,” Keys revealed.
“Trouble is I've got the same problem as Musk – FSG won't sell. No chance. What a non story this is.”
Liverpool fans stuck with FSG
For a segment of supporters, this is going to sound like bad news. There really are people out there who would rather see anyone but FSG running the club.
However, we think that those fans should take a step back and look at what a good job the Boston-based group have done at Anfield.
A new Liverpool training ground has been built, the stadium has been redeveloped – twice – the team has been invested in and become successful. They really have ticked every box.
There have been some glaring mistakes along the way, but FSG have always shown a willingness to listen to fans on key matters and have a good working relationship with supporter-led groups.
Be it with Keys or Musk, or whoever else wants to have a go, things could easily be so, so much worse.
