'Unbelievable': Neil Mellor thinks Arne Slot has already improved one Liverpool player so much

Arne Slot had a hugely difficult task on his hands in taking over from Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager.
But Slot has passed the test at Liverpool with flying colours, with just one blip taking place on Merseyside so far.
Liverpool have won four of their five Premier League games, with their 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield the only low point.
Chris Sutton says Slot has more control at Liverpool than Klopp did, with the Reds seemingly more composed on the ball under the Dutchman.
He does, however, have a long, long way to go before replicating even a small part of the success that the German enjoyed.

Kostas Tsimikas says Slot has instilled confidence in his players, with that belief perhaps most relevant to Luis Diaz.
The winger has enjoyed a blistering start to the new season, and is his club's top scorer this season with five goals.

His displays have caught the eye of former Anfield striker Neil Mellor, who on LFCTV’s Review Show said of Diaz's season: "Unbelievable.
"If you’re wondering when did Luis Diaz get to five goals last season in the Premier League? February. So it just shows the improvement he’s made this season. Absolutely outstanding, it really is."

Diaz often failed to stand out under Klopp, but the winger has been one of the most important players for Slot so far.
It was, of course, the German who brought the exciting attacker to Anfield, with Diaz joining from Porto for £37.5million plus add-ons in January 2022.
His superb displays have kept the likes of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo out of the team, with Federico Chiesa certain to find it difficult to replace the Colombian.

Fortunately, however, the Reds are entering a busy period, and Slot needs to rest Diaz at the first available opportunity.
That comes against West Ham on Wednesday, with the Hammers travelling to Anfield for a League Cup third round clash.
Liverpool really are spoilt for choice in that area, with the aforementioned attackers joined by Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota.
