'Understand': How Federico Chiesa is really now feeling about his role at Liverpool - journalist
Today at 09:00 AM
Liverpool have so far been justified in their lack of summer business ahead of the new season.
The Reds did not do much at all, with only one player being immediately added to the group.
That player was Federico Chiesa, who has played all of 78 minutes for Liverpool since his arrival at the end of August.
And while the Liverpool squad has so far shown that it did not need any major surgery over the summer, Chiesa’s addition has not been a success up to this point.
Owing to fitness frustrations, there have even been claims that Chiesa wants to leave Liverpool and return to Italy and the nearest opportunity.
As those reports continue to rumble on in his homeland though, journalist Florian Plettenberg has shared how Chiesa himself is really feeling about his role at Liverpool.
Federico Chiesa is happy at Liverpool
It was a nice surprise to see Chiesa out at the Liverpool training ground ahead of Sunday’s game against Southampton.
The 27-year-old does not seem likely to play any part against the Saints, but he is clearly nearing availability for Arne Slot.
Interestingly, Chiesa looked completely happy during training, hopefully putting to bed any feeling that he may be looking for the nearest exit.
And taking to X on Saturday morning, Plettenberg confirmed that the Italian has ‘no plans’ to leave Liverpool in January and is instead focused on proving himself to Slot.

“Understand that Federico Chiesa currently has no plans to leave FC Liverpool in the winter,” says the reporter. “A loan move is also not an option at this stage.
“The 27-year-old wants to stay and prove himself.
“So far, he has only played 78 minutes this season. Contract until 2028.”
When will Federico Chiesa be fit again?
Liverpool have managed absolutely fine without Chiesa up until this point of the campaign.
Between them, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo have shouldered much of the slack, with Diogo Jota still not involved in full training either.
Nevertheless, the Liverpool fixture list looks daunting heading into December and over the festive period.

Chiesa’s return would give the Reds just the boost they need ahead of such a punishing schedule.
Given how much of training the former Juventus man took part in on Friday, we’d suggest that he will possibly be an option for Slot for next Sunday’s Manchester City clash.
If not, the trip to Newcastle the following Wednesday could be the one to circle.
