Uruguay fans all share the same opinion on Liverpool's Darwin Nunez after Bolivia 0-0 Uruguay

The 2024/25 campaign has not been kind to Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez.
The Uruguayan star has struggled for confidence in front of goal and has not been trusted by Arne Slot to lead the line at Anfield, despite Jurgen Klopp having a lot of faith in the former Benfica star.
As a result, Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool at the end of the season as the Merseyside club look to revamp their forward line with new signings, as the 25-year-old has only produced seven goals and seven assists across 40 appearances.
Al-Nassr bid £62.5m for Nunez in January, and if Liverpool can bring that in during the summer, the Merseyside club will have done well.
The Uruguay national team has always been a place where Nunez could escape to when he had bad spells at Anfield; however, that has not happened this season for the striker either.

Uruguay fans are not happy with Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez
Uruguay were looking to bounce back from their Argentina defeat on Tuesday night against Bolivia, but that did not go to plan for Marcelo Bielsa’s men as the contest ended in a 0-0 draw, leaving La Celeste third in the World Cup qualifying standings
Having been dropped for the game, Nunez came on for Uruguay just after halftime and once again struggled to produce anything of note for his team.
Uruguay fans were not happy with the 25-year-old’s display and made their feelings clear after the 0-0 draw.
One fan wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Darwin Nuñez is the worst thing that has happened to me in my life. Let them play Suarez and Cavani in wheelchairs.”
Another wrote: “Giménez, Ugarte and Darwin Nunez are equally stupid. It’s incredible.”
Nunez will now return to Liverpool ahead of the Merseyside club’s Premier League clash with Everton next week, and it is hard to see how Slot picks the striker up from here.
Replacement for Darwin Nunez at Liverpool
Liverpool are expected to bring in a nice chunk of cash for Nunez this summer, and that will need to go straight back into replacing the Uruguayan star.
Alexander Isak is Liverpool’s top target ahead of the 2025/26 campaign as the Swedish star is a great fit for Slot’s system and is currently in the form of his life.
Should Newcastle demand a hefty transfer fee for the striker, the Reds have alternatives, with the next best option being a move for Joao Pedro to Liverpool as the Brazilian plays in a similar way to club legend Roberto Firmino.
Matheus Cunha is another option for Liverpool, while Alan Shearer could see Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap make the move to Anfield this summer.
Whatever happens this summer, Liverpool have options as it becomes clearer with each passing week that Nunez’s time on Merseyside is coming to an end.
