'Very quiet': BBC Sport pundit suggests one Liverpool player caught him by surprise in the last half hour today
Today at 12:30 PM
Mohamed Salah was once again the hero for Liverpool as the Reds came from 2-1 down to win 3-2 against Southampton.
The Egyptian international showed why he’s still regarded as one of the best attackers in world football, with Salah bringing his goal tally for the season to 12 in all competitions after his heroics on the English south coast.
With Dominik Szoboszlai hinting he wants Salah to stay at Liverpool, the game certainly belonged to the former AS Roma star, who was again the difference-maker for the Anfield side in what was a must-win fixture.
Yet Glenn Murray has now highlighted one thing that surprised him about Salah’s performance against Southampton.
Murray surprised with how quiet Salah was vs Southampton
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, the former Brighton & Hove Albion star shared how surprised he was by how quiet Salah was for Liverpool, with Murray saying the winger only turned up in the final 30 minutes of the match.
This isn’t the first time such a comment has been made about Salah’s performance for Liverpool this season, with the attacker turning up at the key moments for the Reds when they need a goal or an assist most.

And Murray highlighted these moments from Salah perfectly, with the pundit saying: “It was a wonderful second half. It was open, it was honest, it was two teams trying to take three points.
“The star of the show, someone that was very quiet for the first 60 minutes or so, someone that has done it time and again over the years, Mo Salah. Two goals to put Liverpool 3-2 in front and eight points clear at the top of the league.”
Salah could single-handily win Liverpool the Premier League
Salah’s form this season has reached new levels of world-class, with the attacker deciding games on his own and usually with just a few touches of the ball in the right area at the right time.
And there’s a real chance that Liverpool could single-handily win the Premier League due to Salah’s form, with the winger scoring big goals in big moments for the Anfield side whenever they need a hero.
Indeed, Salah could mark his final season at Liverpool with a second Premier League title, and the winger is showing no sign of slowing down just yet despite his age and his contract situation.
