'Will be helping': David Moyes confirms former Liverpool player has joined his Everton coaching team
Today at 12:30 PM
English football is filled with some of the best rivalries in the entire sport, with the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton one of the best.
The two closest rivals in the Premier League based on physical geography, Liverpool and Everton are rightfully regarded as two teams who know how to put on a show when the Merseyside derby rolls around twice every season.
Although Liverpool’s first meeting with Everton this campaign was postponed due to adverse weather, the final clash between the two historic sides at Goodison Park is set to be a big one, especially with David Moyes now back at the helm.
And to add some even more spice to the upcoming derby, Moyes has now announced that a former Liverpool player has now joined his new-look coaching team for the remainder of the season.
Everton announce former Liverpool man Charlie Adam as new coach
Speaking to the press, Moyes confirmed that former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam has joined Everton’s coaching team alongside Alan Irvine, with the former Scotland international to take on the role as set-piece coach with the Toffees.
Moyes said: "Charlie is someone I have had several chats with since rejoining the club. He will be helping with set-piece situations, an area he excelled in as a player and one I believe he can really help us with now as a coach.

Playing just one full season with the Reds before being sold to Stoke City where the midfielder is best remembered by Premier League fans, Adams move to Everton will certainly catch many Liverpool fans by surprise.
However, with Arne Slot recruiting former Everton star John Heitinga last summer after the Dutchman’s appointment as Liverpool manager, the Toffees bringing in a former Red could be viewed as the Goodison Park side taking their revenge on their Merseyside rivals ahead of the derby.
Adams appointment will crank up the pressure for Liverpool
Adams taking his first step into coaching in the Premier League with Everton is quite a surprising move, even with the former Blackpool star spending just one season at Anfield before enjoying a successful career at Stoke.
And heading into the two Merseyside derbies this season, Adams’ appointment at Everton will only crank up the pressure for Liverpool to perform in what will be two massive games for the Reds, who are on course to win the Premier League title.
Indeed, Liverpool won’t be easily intimidated by facing a former player in Adams, but the added intrigue will certainly be there with the Scotsman now on the touchline alongside Moyes heading into the derbies.
