Liverpool and Nottingham Forest played out a 1-1 draw at the City Ground in what turned out to be a competitive game of football.

After losing the reverse fixture 1-0 at Anfield, the Reds produced a much better performance this time around but fell behind to an early goal.

Chris Wood has been in fine form for Forest this season and broke the deadlock with a fantastic finish as the home side made Liverpool pay with their brand of direct football.

Diogo Jota came on as a second-half substitute and scored seconds after coming on to restore parity on the night as the Reds secured a hard-fought point.

After Liverpool’s latest result, Clinton Morrison has had his say on whether the Reds are still favorites for the Premier League title.

Forest have been the surprise package of the Premier League season so far and are just six points behind Liverpool, although the Reds have a game in hand as the Merseyside derby was postponed last month due to Storm Darragh.

Arne Slot’s side have now won just three of their last seven Premier League games but have a healthy lead at the top, although the gap will be reduced to just four points if Arsenal win the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow.

Liverpool lead the way with more than half the season played, but their performance against Forest wasn’t their best, although they did get better as the game went on.

And Morrison feels the Reds are still favourites to win the title in Slot’s first season in charge of the club, adding that clubs will struggle against Forest especially when they visit the City Ground.

“It tells us that the title race is still open,” said Morrison via BBC.

“But other teams will struggle here. Nottingham Forest put in so much effort and make it tough but I still think Liverpool are favourites.”

What next for Liverpool?

The Reds didn’t start well and deservedly fell behind, but as the game went on, they really rose to the challenge, particularly in the second half.

Forest have been on a roll this season, so a draw against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men isn’t really the worst result in the world.

However, the Reds have failed to beat Forest this season and have won just three of their last seven Premier League game, which is definitely a cause for concern as teams are starting to breathe down their necks.

Liverpool’s next Premier League clash is a trip to Brentford on Saturday and anything other than a win could prove to be catastrophic for Slot and co.
