'Wow': Luton manager now shares what Jurgen Klopp did after Liverpool beat his side 4-1 last season

Liverpool fans are looking ahead to the Arne Slot era truly kicking off on Saturday with a friendly game against Real Betis.
The pre-season match in Pittsburgh, USA will be the first time a Liverpool team take to the field without Jurgen Klopp as manager since 2015.
It is undoubtedly an exciting time for Reds fans as they prepare for a new dawn at Anfield.
The Liverpool squad appear happy with the change, with Curtis Jones taking aim at Klopp’s tactics ahead of the game against Betis.
But as everyone at Liverpool prepares to look forward, Luton Town manager Rob Edwards has sent a little reminder of exactly what we’re all missing.

Nobody at Liverpool really needs reminding of just how big a figure Klopp eventually became in the club’s history.
In truth, it has become a little tiresome to see Slot continuously asked about how he plans to continue the German’s legacy with the Reds.
Nevertheless, we will never bore of listening to stories being regaled about the man who led Liverpool with such distinction for almost a decade.
Speaking on the High Performance podcast on TikTok, Edwards has one such story. The Luton boss has hailed Klopp for how he treated him after Liverpool’s 4-1 win over the Hatters in February.

“He was amazing,” raved the 41-year-old. “He put his arm around me when we walked in, they beat us 4-1. We were 1-0 up at half-time, playing really well but ultimately they were too good. Anfield was Anfield. Anfield was amazing that night, it was brilliant.
“And he came in after the game, put his arm around me and we were looking at the picture of him with the Champions League trophy and he was like ‘how old are you?’ ’41.’ He said, ‘when I was your age I was as far away from that trophy as you are now.’
“But then he started talking about how this can be your time now and I love what you’re doing and how you’re working with the team and stuff. And I was like, wow!
“It was really, really nice to be able to sit down and have this time with him because I know they’re incredibly busy and there’s a lot of demands on them as well. So, for him to give that time means a lot to me.”

It was honestly a little surprising to hear Jones speak so candidly about how he was not a huge fan of Klopp’s style of football earlier this week.
With the 57-year-old gone, the club will naturally move on and that is good and exciting, but it did feel slightly unnecessary.
While Jones may surprisingly be happy to see Klopp leave, though, others at Liverpol will be itching for his return.
Not as manager, of course, all the signs are that Slot is going to be a great coach in his own right for Liverpool. But Klopp said he would be back at Anfield to watch a game from his old team before long.
With stories like this gem from Edwards now consigned to things that have already happened rather than things that will again, it would be nice to see Jurgen back where he belongs at some point soon.
