Wolves were linked with a move for Real Betis' Sergi Altimira in the January transfer window and there is now an indication that Manchester City were also interested in the midfielder.
Estadio Deportivo have taken a closer look at the 23-year-old today and they believe that the Spanish club are strengthening their stance, when it comes to keeping the player.
The outlet states Wolves and Manchester City had attempted to sign the Spaniard in the winter transfer window and English clubs are still attentive to his situation at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.
The report also cites ABC’s information, stating that everything is done to make sure that Altimira signs a new deal at Real Betis, who will tie him down until 2029. Despite, interest from England continues.
That is probably because of a release clause in his contract, which will stay in place even if Altimira signs a new deal.
The amount is fixed at between €40m and €50m and this can prove attractive to any Premier League side.
At the same time, Real Betis will also be able to make a big capital profit from a sale, even if the new deal is a 'reward' for his impressive showings this season.
