Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement to sign defender Juma Bah from Valladolid as they close in on their second signing of the transfer window.

The Premier League champions have already brought in Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens in a deal woth £33.6m, plus add-ons.

Having added the 20-year-old Uzbek to their squad, City are now close to signing an 18-year-old from Sierra Leone.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that a verbal agreement has been reached for the centre-back with formal details to follow soon.

The inexperienced defender is not expected to be competing for a place in the Manchester City first team straight away and could immediately move on a loan deal elsewhere.

Romano reports that a short-term switch to Lens is being discussed following the positive discussions between the clubs over the Khusanov deal.

Manchester City’s moves so far this month show that they are not attempting to make a quick fix to their nightmare season so far, but instead are building for the future.

On his arrival in Manchester Khusanov said: ‘This squad is full of the best players in the world, and I can’t wait to meet them and play alongside them.

‘And of course Pep Guardiola is one of the greatest coaches ever and I am so excited to learn from him and improve my game even more.’
