Swedish talent Matias Siltanen is close to a move to Djurgården but is also hoping for an offer to Manchester City to arrive before he makes it.
That's according to Fotboll Skanalen, who cover comments from the 17-year-old today as he gets ready to move.
They report that Djurgården want the youngster and have been trying to sign him this month. So far, a deal has failed to come to fruition, though. This has been confirmed by Djurgården manager Jani Honkavaara.
They're working to make that a possibility and the youngster has likewise confirmed he is 'close' to the Swedish club. They're developing something of a reputation for bringing through young talent after selling Lucas Bergvall to Tottenham last summer.
While the negotiations and efforts for the transfer are happening behind the scenes, Siltanen has been out and about.
On Wednesday he was on site at his former school in Kuopio where he held a small 'floorball' event for the children. Local newspaper Savon Sanomat were on the scene and managed to get some comments from the player on transfer speculation.
They say he confirmed the closeness of the move to Djurgården but then admitted he is still awaiting a possible offer from Manchester City. According to the newspaper, Manchester City have been scouting him for some time.
"There has been no offer from there yet," he told them.
However, talks between Djurgården and his current club, Kups, continue to stall as the latter demand €1m for him and a resale percentage and bonuses as well. That's left the window open for Manchester City, who he's waiting for and seemingly secretly hoping take the opportunity.
