Stefan Ortega has largely been behind Ederson at Manchester City during his time at the club.

The 32-year-old has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season, keeping four clean sheets and conceding 22 goals in the process.

Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann has included the Manchester City man in the squad for March’s fixtures.

Oretga had a chat with the German media to discuss a few topics, including his future at the Etihad. Kicker have relayed his comments.

The goalkeeper joined Manchester City on a free transfer in 2022 and has played 50 matches for them so far.

On his role under Pep Guardiola, he said: “I think I’ve played a considerable number of games since I’ve been there.”

The German has mostly been a back up for Ederson and despite this role, Ortega insists he and his family are “super comfortable” at Manchester City.

He has less than 16 months left on his contract, but Kicker state his time at the Premier League club could end in the summer window. That’s because the stopper is not ruling out a move away from Manchester City after this season.

“Sometimes things happen very quickly. I can’t yet say what will happen in the summer. Anything is possible. We know the world of football; things can happen very quickly sometimes,” Ortega explained.

Recent claims in the UK and elsewhere have stated Ederson’s future at Manchester City beyond this season remains uncertain. If the Brazilian were to leave, it may give Ortega an opportunity to become No.1 at the Etihad next season.
