Manchester United could sign two attacking players this summer in order to bolster their squad.

Scoring goals has been the biggest issue for the Red Devils, which has led to a turbulent 2024-25 season.

Top of their wish list are Matheus Cunha and rising star Liam Delap, two names that could transform United's toothless front-line.

The competition for the three attacking spots in a 3-4-3 formation will surely heat up next season.

United head coach Ruben Amorim has deployed Kobbie Mainoo in a more attacking position rather than the usual midfield pivot.

He was critical of Mainoo’s ability to defend and believes the player is more comfortable when given more freedom in the final third.

It is hard to argue considering the 20-year-old possesses fantastic technical prowess and flair.

His stunning equaliser against Lyon was just the latest in a growing highlight reel that includes match-defining strikes against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Liverpool.

If Cunha makes his way to the Theatre of Dreams, he will be a sure starter in the left number 10 spot.

That could push Alejandro Garnacho to the opposite flank, freeing up Bruno Fernandes to pull the strings from deeper in midfield.

Mainoo has already been a regular player for United and England.

For a player used to starting every game, increased competition could be a bitter pill to swallow.

With only a few games remaining in the season, the academy graduate has a big role to play.

Joshua Zirkzee is ruled out for the season, and Amorim will likely continue to use Mainoo as an attacking midfielder.

Mainoo started against Wolves on Sunday but failed to stamp his authority on the game.

The youngster has a big challenge ahead of him to prove his mettle by amassing goals and assists in the next two months.

It will be the key to determining how important his role will be next season at Old Trafford.
