Manchester United’s need for an LWB is already well-documented. Luke Shaw has continued to struggle with injury problems, therefore even if he returns, the Englishman can’t be trusted to stay fit.

On the other hand, Tyrell Malacia played a few games under Ruben Amorim after recovering from a lengthy injury layoff.

However, he missed the entire last campaign due to injury and Diogo Dalot has been playing in the LWB role even though he is naturally a right sided player.

Now, French outlet, Foot Mercato, state that Amorim has prioritised signing a new left-sided defender and has asked his new employer to lure Nuno Mendes from Paris Saint-Germain.

The player has entered the final 18 months of his existing contract at Parc des Princes and hasn’t been impressed by the proposal offered to him to sign an extension.

Therefore, he wants to leave and is eager to move to Old Trafford to reunite with his former coach Ruben. The pair enjoyed great success at Sporting CP and after being impressed by his displays, Les Parisiens opted to secure the defender’s service.

However, it is unlikely a move will happen this month and a summer move seems to be the most possible outcome. Earlier this month, iNews reported that Nuno Mendes is keen on joining Manchester United, recently, even TBR Football have stated the same.

The defender currently earns just around £23,000-a-week in salary, which is quite low as compared to the PSG wage-bill.

Nuno Mendes is already familiar with Amorim’s system, hence he shouldn’t take much time to settle down in his new surroundings if he joins Manchester United this month. What do you think?
