News – From Portugal – Defender ready to sign for Man United and bring his girlfriend along
The Old Trafford club have a woeful record at Anfield in recent times. They haven’t scored at this venue since the 3-1 defeat back in 2018 when Jose Mourinho was in charge and this was the Portuguese's final game as the Red Devils boss.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag failed to find a goal at Anfield so it remains to be seen whether Amorim can manage to get something out of this game. Based on the respective forms, it looks difficult for him to do that.
As for team news, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Victor Lindelof are set to remain sidelined for this game owing to their injury problems.
The good news is that Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes are available for selection after serving a suspension in the last game vs Newcastle. Marcus Rashford hasn’t trained in recent days due to illness and is unlikely to feature this weekend.
Predicted Man Utd line-up vs Liverpool
Amorim could decide to go with a set-up to survive humiliation at Anfield like Ten Hag did last term by earning a 0-0 draw. However, the Portuguese boss has insisted that he doesn’t want to shift from his philosophy.
Andre Onana is expected to be in goal for the visitors and in front of the Cameroonian, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro could be the back three. Noussair Mazraoui is expected to be in the right-back position, while Diogo Dalot may be on the opposite side.
Ugarte should return to the starting Xl straight away and Kobbie Mainoo could be paired up with the Uruguayan in midfield. So, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen should make way.
Bruno is likely to be in one of the CAM roles and Amad Diallo may commence alongside him with Rasmus Hojlund in the No.9 position. Therefore, Joshua Zirkzee, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho would be among the substitutes. Here’s the predicted line-up:
