Manchester United have not made the greatest of starts to the season despite the recent 7-0 thumping of Barnsley.
Truth be told, anything other than such a result against the League One side would have been a disappointment, with all due respect.

That result however cannot paper over the cracks in this Manchester United team. Despite making significant additions to the squad in the summer, the club continues to struggle under Erik ten Hag with players like Casemiro looking out of depth.
To be fair to the Brazilian midfield sensation, he did start the season well in the Community Shield and the initial games of the Premier League. However, his performance against Liverpool was disastrous and has since been benched in the league by Ten Hag.
In the summer, Man Utd made a £42.6m offer to sign Atalanta star Ederson but eventually ended up acquiring Manuel Ugarte from PSG. The Uruguayan defensive midfielder has already made his debut for the club but the future of Casemiro is unknown.
As per TNT Sports via Sport Witness, Manchester United are now finally willing to sign the 25-year-old Brazilian midfield. There are two ways one could look at the Red Devils potentially signing Ederson in the near future.
On one hand, the club has just signed Ugarte and has Casemiro as a backup. On paper, they don’t need another defensive midfielder. However, it would be a huge surprise should the Real Madrid legend stay at Old Trafford beyond this season.
Considering Man Utd injury woes and squad depth issues, signing Ederson does make sense, especially once Casemiro leaves. It depends on the fee that Atalanta demand for the Brazilian and let’s wait and see how it goes.
