Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho favours a move to Chelsea over Napoli, according to reports in Argentina.
Napoli have already had a bid rejected for Garnacho as United initially held out for a £70 million transfer fee for the 20-year-old.
Chelsea are also exploring the possibility of signing Garnacho before the end of the January transfer window and the winger’s two agents were at Stamford Bridge on Monday night to watch Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Wolves.
United’s hierarchy held further talks with Napoli on Tuesday and reports in Italy claim that the Premier League side have now lowered their asking price to €65m (£54.8m).
Meanwhile, TyC Sports report that Garnacho’s preference would be to remain in the Premier League, although Chelsea have yet to submit an offer to United.
The report adds that Garnacho has not made final decision over his future and his move will hinge on whether Chelsea follow up with their interest.
Chelsea have also shown interest in signing Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel this month but the German side are refusing to sell the 19-year-old, who has played just 332 minutes in all competitions this season.
Another winger on Chelsea’s radar is Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens, although they face competition from Bayern Munich and Dortmund are in a strong negotiating position as the 20-year-old’s contract expires in 2028.
United, meanwhile, held talks with Lecce on Tuesday over a deal for their 20-year-old left-back Patrick Dorgu.
An opening offer of €30m (£25.3) plus an additional €5m (£4.2m) in bonuses from United was rejected by Lecce, who want to keep Dorgu until the end of the season.
Napoli have also held talks over signing Dorgu and would consider allowing the Denmark international to remain on loan at Lecce for the remainder of the campaign.
