Marcus Rashford was Manchester United’s heart-throb since making his debut back in 2016 having ranked through the club’s youth system.
However, after becoming the Red Devils’ new head coach, Ruben Amorim opted to banish the Englishman following his string of poor performances.
News – Report – Man Utd told £37.5million offer will finally secure signing
The 26-year-old has been out on loan to Aston Villa until the end of this season and is expected to be sold permanently this summer. Moreover, the Portuguese boss allowed Antony to leave the club on a loan deal in the winter window and is likely to be sold permanently as well.
Jadon Sancho is unlikely to play for Man Utd anymore so the wide areas need to be reinforced ahead of next campaign.
Now, The Sun report that Amorim is pushing Man Utd to sign Sporting CP forward, Francisco Trincao. Having enjoyed great success together at Jose Alvalade Stadium, the United boss is now willing to reunite with his former colleague at Old Trafford.
However, Man Utd will have to dig deep to get the deal done as the Lions don’t want to lose him and are willing to tie him down to a fresh term. The player has a £50m release clause in his current contract, which will run until 2027.
Sporting purchased Trincao from Barcelona and the Blaugrana have a 50% sell-on clause. The Portuguese giants want to recoup at least £35m from their star man’s sale if they are forced to cash-in. Hence, United will have to spend £70m to sign the forward.
Trincao is a versatile forward as he is an RW by trait but is also comfortable in the second striker role. He mainly showcased his best in the right CAM role in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation.
He helped Sporting become the Liga Portugal champions last term and has been guiding them to defend their title this season. In 26 league appearances, he has scored eight goals and registered 11 assists this campaign.
During the latest international break, he helped Portugal beat Denmark in the second leg of the Nations League quarter-finals by scoring a brace after coming on as a substitute.
Have your say – Should Amorim splash the cash to sign Trincao for Man Utd?
