'Big offer' needed – Man Utd consider move to sign £30,000 a week Liverpool target before deadline

Now, Man Utd have started a new era under Ruben Amorim’s guidance and the start under his tenure has been average and they are still languishing in the bottom half of the table.

So, the Portuguese boss needs to do a complete rebuild once again. Speaking on Football Insider, transfer expert, Mike Brown says that Man Utd want to sign a new midfielder and have been keeping a close eye on Wolves star Joao Gomes.

United have sent scouts to watch him in action closely and they will be looking to sign him by taking advantage of the West Midlands club’s financial difficulties.

However, Vitor Pereira’s side don’t want to lose him in mid-season hence Man Utd will have to make a 'big offer' to get the deal done before the deadline.

Brown says Amorim’s side aren’t alone in this race as Liverpool are also keen on securing the Brazilian’s service. He said:

"I think if he does leave Wolves it will take a big offer, because they don't want to let him go, especially not in the middle of the season."

The 23-year-old is currently just on £30,000-a-week in salary at Molineux Stadium and has a contract until 2028.

He has been a key player for Wolves in recent years after joining from Flamengo, making three goal contributions in 19 Premier League appearances this season.

Gomes could be an ideal replacement for Casemiro but having already got Manuel Ugarte, United don’t need to spend big to hire another play breaker when they need a creative box-to-box player to support Kobbie Mainoo.
