On Wednesday, we covered several claims from South America discussing Manchester United’s interest in Cerro Porteño’s Diego León.

Later that day, Paraguayan journalist Pedro Torres stated the Red Devils have agreed a deal with Cerro Porteño to sign the 17-year-old.

Another journalist Roberto Rojas said the left-back will officially join Manchester United in June 2025. The teenager won’t be able to arrive in the UK until he’s 18 years of age next April.

León revealed yesterday that he was aware Manchester United have made an approach to secure his services. Fútbol a lo Grande have since directly asked the fullback about the Premier League side’s interest.

When responding to that, he said: “Every player always wants to play in Europe, I can’t talk much about it.”

The player has refused to give more information on his potential move to Old Trafford, but the approach from the English club has certainly pleased his family.

La Union AM took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share information about their chat with Diego León’s brother, Hernán. He claims Manchester United wanting to sign the Cerro Porteño youngster has brought a lot of joy to the family.

“Imagine seeing that news, the tremendous excitement we have, the whole family here, to know that a big team is chasing after my brother’s steps,” Hernán explained.

When Hernán found out about Manchester United’s interest, he told Diego: “Hopefully something will come out.” He also stated the left-back is ‘calm’ about the whole situation.

Hernán adds his mother ‘cries with emotion all the time’ because his brother’s sacrifice is starting to ‘bear fruit’.
