Antony is a player Manchester United were willing to listen to offers for in the summer. Except no offers came in.

That tells you everything you need to know about the Brazilian's time at Old Trafford. He arrived from Ajax with promise but the spark is gone.

A new report from Football Insider claims United are set to entertain loan offers for Antony in January when the transfer window opens.

It's a sorry story for Antony who can't attract enough interest to warrant a permanent switch away from the club, even though he has slipped down Erik ten Hag's pecking order for the right-wing due to Amad Diallo's emergence.

Sources say United are open to including an option to buy with any temporary deal, but a large percentage of his wages will have to be covered. FI now suggest that Ten Hag has given his say on the matter and is open to selling the player he brought from Amsterdam as he hasn't shown enough process since his arrival.

Antony has played just twice in the Premier League so far this season, with both of those appearances coming from the bench. He is no longer considered a starter or part of the manager's plans. That's a terrible sign for a player who cost the club £86 million.

There is already an acceptance that nobody will sign him on a permanent deal because of unwillingness to meet United's valuation of the player, which has taken a hit due to his underwhelming performances.

The report also states that United want to clear their wage bill to make room for potential additions and they are keen to strengthen their squad following a slow start to the season. A new winger may be on the agenda but United need to sign a new left-back, too.
