FA Cup 2022-23: Fixtures, results, draw dates and how to watch on TV

Beginning in 1871, the FA Cup has been one of the most prestigious competitions in football for over a century and a half.

Over the years, the competition has seen some huge highlights and this year’s FA Cup, the 142nd edition of the oldest football tournament in the world, will see plenty of teams competing for glory.

Here is everything you need to know about the FA Cup 2022-23, as the fourth round games get underway…

FA Cup full schedule

The FA Cup will be contested across the second half of the season, with every stage except the fifth round taking place on a weekend.

The semi-finals and finals will once again be played at Wembley Stadium.

The first and second rounds took place earlier in the season, featuring teams from League One and below.

Will replays feature in the FA Cup?

Replays will be used in the third and fourth rounds this year.

However, games will go straight to extra-time and if needed, penalties, from the fifth round onwards.

Replays had been scrapped in every round of the competition for the past couple of seasons, due to the fixture pile-up caused by the pandemic.

When is the fifth round of the FA Cup?

The fifth round of the FA Cup will take place on Wednesday, March 1.

The exact kick-off times and TV selections will be announced closer to the time.

How to watch the FA Cup on TV

The BBC and ITV are sharing the rights to show FA Cup games live on TV in the UK.

Fixtures that are on the BBC and ITV TV channels will also be live streamed on their online services, the BBC iPlayer and the ITV Hub.

The BBC will show 18 matches live in the competition, whilst ITV will broadcast 20.

Games that are not shown live on TV will be available to watch as highlights afterwards on the BBC and ITV platforms.

Who won the FA Cup last year?

Liverpool won the competition last season after beating Chelsea 6-5 on penalties following a 0-0 draw after extra time.

Greek defender Kostas Tsimikas scored the winning penalty after Mason Mount missed his spot kick when the shootout went to sudden death.

It was the eighth time the Reds had won the trophy in their history, and the first since the 2005-06 season.
