"He's worth about half that" – Massive discount wanted on Manchester United player, wouldn't be a starter

Should the media around Napoli continue on their trajectory of trying to talk down the value of Alejandro Garnacho then in a week they’ll be wanting Manchester United to pay the Serie A club to take him.
Earlier today we covered multiple reports from Italy which insisted that despite claims all over the place about Manchester United wanting €70-80m, that was just a bluff and not their real asking price.
Indeed, as sections of the Italian media appear to have convinced themselves, the Premier League club actually want €50m and Napoli aren’t even sure they want to pay that.
Now Sky Italia journalist Francesco Modugno has had his say.
Quoted by AreaNapoli, he’s said the Argentina international would likely be stuck on the bench for a good while anyway: “Garnacho is at the top of Napoli’s list, but if he were to land in Campania he wouldn’t be a starter.
“No new signing would come to Naples to be a starter. Manchester United is asking for €70m for Garnacho? For the Campania club he is worth about half that. This means that for €70m the Neapolitans won’t even negotiate. If the request is instead equal to €50m the Neapolitans may decide to talk about it.”
At this point it’s perhaps worth making clear that Manchester United aren’t forcing Napoli to be interested. This is all from their own free will.
If they think Garnacho isn’t all that they are very welcome to walk away and look elsewhere. They’re not doing anyone a favour by quite liking him but at the same time sending messages out that they don’t fancy him that much anyway.
There’s every chance there’s some kind of elaborate ruse going on to make it look to Antonio Conte like Napoli are putting a lot of effort in but Manchester United just aren’t being reasonable enough.
Good luck with that.
