"Just no top players" – Van Basten slams Ten Hag signings, names the only decent squad members

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United tenure continues to face problems and things got worse following Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to Old Trafford at the weekend.
There has been mass criticism after the disastrous 3-0 defeat and that criticism hasn’t just been aimed at Ten Hag, but also at players.
Dutch legend Marco van Basten has now aimed his ire at many United players, and Ten Hag’s decision to sign them, and that includes new signing Manuel Ugarte, who started against Tottenham.
He told Ziggo Sport, as relayed by SoccerNews.Nl: "I saw a new player, Ugarte, or something like that.
"Fifty million euros! Then I think: how can he walk around like that? It's crazy how much money he spent on players who aren't good."
Moving on to speak about the other members of the Red Devils squad, Van Basten made it clear he’s not a fan.
“Just no top players. Rashford? He doesn’t hit a pepper nut anymore. Fernandes is a good player, Onana is a decent keeper. For the rest, there are no guys about whom you can say: they are strong players.”
The ex-Netherlands striker also spoke about Casemiro: “He’s passé. Name any name. That right winger, Garnacho, is a decent player. But not a key player. There are no players others can cling to.”
Overmars’ comments about Ugarte especially seem a little over the top, especially considering he wasn’t even sure what the midfielder’s name is.
It is obvious that a lot of United players haven’t had a great season and that was also the case last season. That could also be because of the setup that Ten Hag has for them.
A better setup can bring more out of them and make them look like better players, while making sure that the club doesn’t finish eighth in the Premier League all over again.
That is a bigger decision that United will have to make and if things don’t turn around, Ten Hag’s job will definitely be at stake.
