Manchester United continue to look for options in the transfer market as Dan Ashworth is well aware that rebuilding the team is not a ‘one transfer window’ job. The problems run so much deeper and it needs to be addressed bit by bit.

Left-back has been an area of concern for the Red Devils for quite some time now. Luke Shaw, when fit, is one of the best in his position in the world but his body has increasingly let him down over the past 12 months.

Tyrell Malacia on the other hand has gone through injury hell and despite him being close to returning, no one knows what shape he would come back in.

This has prompted Man Utd to look at options in the market and they have landed on Fulham star Antonee Robinson.

Now, as per The Sun, arch-rivals Liverpool are ready to beat Manchester United to sign the talented left-back. The player is valued at around £35m and considering his ceiling, neither club should be worried about paying it.

It’s worth noting that Liverpool currently have Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas in the ranks and even if you were to consider that they would let the latter go, Robinson would have to bide his time as a backup until Robertson is at the club.

At Manchester United, on the other hand, the team is crying out for a left-back. Even if Luke Shaw was to return, with his fitness, he is unlikely to be able to play every single game and this would give Robinson a better chance to start at Old Trafford than at Merseyside.

This battle between the two English heavyweights will be interesting and should Robinson sign for Man Utd, he would be a good addition to the team. At 27, he has entered the prime years of his career, should United pay £35m to secure the signing?
