Man Utd suffered yet another loss under Ruben Amorim, going down 2-0 to Newcastle United in their latest Premier League encounter.
It was a difficult defeat to take but one player really took the entire brunt of the Red Devils’ woes.
News – £375,000 a week star now prepared to secure Manchester United exit – Report
Joshua Zirkzee was handed a start by Ruben Amorim against the Magpies but was hooked off just over half an hour into the game after what was a disastrous display.
That 30-odd minutes appearance more or less summed up his career in England so far.
Having enjoyed a stellar season at Bologna last year, this has been a rude awakening for the Dutch striker. Being booed off by the home crowd hardly half a season into his United career would surely be taking a toll on the player.
Now, as per Tutto Juve, Man Utd are ready to sell Joshua Zirkzee as early as this January transfer window to make room and funds available for the signing of Sporting CP, striker Viktor Gyokeres, who has previously played under Amorim.
Zirkzee was signed for around £36.5m back in the summer and has been an utter flop, although it might not be wise to judge a player just six months into his new club.
Gyokeres is expected to cost Man Utd or any interested club around £63m and having previously played under Ruben Amorim and in England, he should be able to adapt easily. Meanwhile, Juventus are said to be interested in taking Zirkzee on loan.
Having previously worked with him, Thiago Motta will know how to get the best out of Zirkzee. It makes a lot of sense on paper but should Man Utd be bailing on a player who is young, talented and just six months into his career at Old Trafford?
In your view, should Man Utd sell Zirkzee to fund the signing of Gyokeres?
