With every passing day, it increasingly looks like Erik ten Hag is a dead man walking at Manchester United. It looks like the Dutch coach just cannot catch a break and has now dropped points for the third game in a row in the PL.

So far this season, the Red Devils have managed just three wins [1-0 over Fulham, 3-0 over Southampton and 7-0 over Barnsley].

News – Man Utd now want to sign "great player" after club reject rival offer  – Report

It is an appalling record for a club of Manchester United’s stature and the writing could be on the wall for Ten Hag after the stalemate against Aston Villa.

The Red Devils are already looking at replacements. As per Catalan source, Man Utd are prepared to move and sign ex-Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez and make him Ten Hag’s successor. The Spanish coach is currently out of a job.

The tactician was the head coach of Barcelona for two and a half seasons during which he won the La Liga once and made his team play some good football. However, he hit a glass ceiling beyond which he was unable to take his team.

Is Xavi good enough to replace Ten Hag at Man Utd?

One of the biggest criticisms about Ten Hag has been his lack of clarity with tactics. Xavi is at the opposite end of the spectrum.

He is extremely meticulous with how he sets his team up and where every player operates, to the extent of it becoming rigid.

Having learnt from a world class coach like Pep Guardiola, the Blaugrana legend is an extremely positional manager.

For a club like Man Utd who have a lot of project players as they look to build towards success, Xavi would be a good coach to have.

It remains to be seen if Erik ten Hag can keep hold of his managerial post after the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa leaves Man Utd 14th in the Premier League table.
