Man Utd willing to offer three-year deal to sign £21million La Liga star – Report

At this point, one can’t help but wonder where exactly the page turns for Manchester United on a new chapter.
Every time there seems to be some hope which could prove to be the turning point, the dreams come crashing down. It has been a series of false starts for too many years now and one wonders when Ruben Amorim’s efforts actually start showing on the pitch.
Man Utd fans would have been buoyed by the way their team managed to hold their own against both Liverpool and Arsenal and could have seen this as a sign of improvement.
However, in the weekend just gone by, the Red Devils were terrible against Brighton & Hove Albion, losing the game by a score-line of 3-1. Of the many players who had a poor game on the night, it was Andre Onana who really stood out.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper’s form in recent weeks has been a disaster waiting to happen and it did, against the Seagulls.
As per TDF, Man Utd are tired of persisting with Andre Onana and putting up with his constant mistakes and his latest howler could prove to be the straw that broke the camel’s back, forcing the club to look at reinforcements in the transfer market.
As per the report, Man Utd are willing to offer a three-year deal to Atletico Madrid superstar Jan Oblak and insist on signing the £21million veteran goalkeeper.
In terms of reliability, the La Liga star is on the opposite end of the spectrum to that of Onana, establishing himself as one of the most reliable shot-stoppers in Europe for the better part of the last decade.
Our view
Oblak is currently 32 years old and when it comes to a goalkeeper, he is still very much in the prime years of his career.
Unlike outfield players, shot-stoppers tend to peak at a slightly later stage and the Atletico Madrid man can surely continue playing at the highest level for at least the next three or four seasons.
For a team that is struggling like Man Utd are at the moment, inspirational performances at the back could really lift the spirits of the entire team.
Many times during the Red Devils’ dark days in the past decade, it was David de Gea who single-handedly helped the team stay in games from which they have fashioned many famous wins.
Keeping all this in mind, signing Oblak would make a lot of sense for Man Utd but that could mean parting ways with Onana.
If the Red Devils are able to get a good offer for the Cameroonian international, this is a transfer that they should really look to pursue and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
