Manchester United have a verbal agreement in place for youngster Diego León and his entourage are confident it will be concluded soon.
That's according to journalist Daniel Maciel, who reports that a verbal agreement is now in place between Manchester United and Cerro Porteño for the 17-year-old.
Reports over the last 48 hours have Manchester United moving rapidly for the young left-back, who has been making waves in his native Paraguay.
A $5m deal appears to be on the table to make him Ruben Amorim's first signing at Old Trafford, although he wouldn't arrive until the middle of 2025 when he turns 18.
León himself has remained quiet on the matter when asked about the links to Manchester United, but he is very much in the spotlight at this moment in time, with the situation around him developing quickly.
Maciel has now provided the latest update, reporting that despite Cerro Porteño president Luis Pettengill insisting nothing formal has arrived at the club, the fact of the matter is that it will.
There's already a verbal agreement with Manchester United for him for a deal worth $5m plus bonuses and he would move in mid-2025. That's because León has not yet turned 18 and so can't sign a contract.
The journalist adds that despite verbal agreements often falling by the wayside, the player's entourage have 'practically agreed' with all the relevant parties.
That means this transfer looks very likely to go through and soon so Manchester United fans can start getting excited, perhaps by reading all about the youngster in Sport Witness’ profile on the youngster from journalist Pedro Torres, who originally broke the story.
