Manchester United have a rich history of developing young talents and providing them with the platform to flourish in the first-team.

From the class of 92 to now, in total 251 players have played for the first-team after ranking through the academy. They have named an academy graduate in their squad in every game since 1937.

The latest to come through the youth system and secure his place in the Manchester United first-team is Kobbie Mainoo.

However, speculation surrounding his future has been growing in recent times as United are said to be looking to sell academy graduates to comply with PSR rules and have slapped a £65m price tag on Mainoo’s head.

So, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford have also been linked with a move away from the club in this winter window.

Now, speaking on Football Insider, former Man City financial advisor, Stefan Borson, says that if the Red Devils receive a big offer for Garnacho then they would be open to accepting it.

However, it is highly unlikely that they will allow Mainoo to leave and will agree on a deal to extend his contract. Borson said:

"I think the Mainoo thing (sale) is slightly less believable. I suspect they will come to a deal with him."

The 19-year-old has been a key player in Man Utd’s starting Xl in recent times but his current salary is significantly lower than the top earners at the club.

Therefore, he wants a pay rise in line with his status at the club and country, he has already established himself as a key player for England. The midfielder wants around £200,000-a-week, including bonuses in salary – which is around £10.4m-a-year.

Mainoo deserves a salary hike, but do you you think he has done enough to deserve a huge pay of £200,000 a week at Manchester United.
