Lack of sporting success on the sporting side doesn’t seem to affect Man Utd in any way when it comes to their transfer aspirations. The club continues to be linked with some of the most prolific players in the sport despite not competing at the highest level for a few seasons now.
Man Utd appointed Ruben Amorim mid-season after sacking Erik ten Hag as the manager and the Portuguese coach has not managed to turn around the results in a significant fashion. That said, the ex-Sporting CP tactician hasn’t had a pre-season behind him to build his ideas yet.

Without a doubt, Amorim will be keen to bring in players in the summer and potentially those who can fit into his system or adapt to it in due course. However, one is still not clear just how much of a spending power Man Utd will have, unless they are able to make significant sales.
Now, as per Spanish source, Fichajes, Man Utd have tabled a £58.8million offer to sign Barcelona superstar Raphinha. The Brazilian has been one of the very best players on the planet so far this season and is in running to win the Ballon d’Or next year, especially if the Catalan club go on to win trophies.
In 42 games across all competitions, the 28-year-old has scored 27 goals and provided 21 assists and most importantly, has stepped up on the biggest occasions for Barcelona.
He is arguably the most improved player in Europe under Hansi Flick and seems to be showing no signs of slowing down.
Barcelona are still very much in the reckoning for a treble and Raphinha’s performances between now and the end of the season could go a long way in determining what the Catalan club wins this season. How Man Utd are having aspirations of signing him, especially for such a fee, is quite baffling!
There is no need for Barcelona to sell Raphinha and even if they did, it surely will not be for the fee that Man Utd are said to be offering. The Brazilian is proving to be an incredible asset for Hansi Flick’s team and one highly doubts the player would want to abandon that project to move to Manchester.
It remains to be seen if there is any truth to Man Utd’s interest in Raphinha. The Red Devils would be better off trying to focus on more realistic targets who can increase the quality and the depth of the squad and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
