Manchester United are coming off a very impressive victory over Leicester City in the Premier League. While it was three points that they were expected to get, what caught the eye was a significant upturn in performance against the Foxes.

The Red Devils played a good brand of football and offered insight into what the future could hold under Ruben Amorim.

News – Blow for Man Utd – Liverpool are set to agree £80million deal to sign Premier League star

Man Utd will be looking to build on the same in whatever is left this season and meanwhile, start planning towards the future of the club and potential transfer opportunities.

Man Utd are not exactly blessed from a financial viewpoint and will have to make sales to fund potential incomings. The Red Devils have a lot of holes to address in the squad and, as per Caught Offside, the club have finally been offered the chance to sign a long-term transfer target.

Frenkie de Jong and the Red Devils need no introduction. Erik ten Hag, throughout his time at Old Trafford kept persisting with a transfer for the Dutchman who he coached back during their time together at Ajax. With his contract at Barcelona expiring in 2026, Man Utd might finally have the chance to sign him.

The report mentions that other clubs in the Premier League like Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have also been given the opportunity to sign the 27-year-old Dutchman. He has played very well in Hansi Flick’s team since the start of 2025 but there seems to be no movement on his contract front.

Barcelona are said to be demanding a fee of around £29m-£34m to sell the player in the summer. That is an absolute steal for a player with the Dutchman’s ability and it will come as no surprise if all these top European clubs jump all over the opportunity to sign the player next season.

Man Utd have a lot of areas to address in the squad and midfield is certainly one of them. Without a doubt, Frenkie de Jong would add a new dimension to Ruben Amorim’s system and he would be the ideal midfielder with the engine to keep moving up and down the flank.

Barcelona are a club who have always found a way to retain their top talents and Frenkie de Jong is no different. It remains to be seen how the player’s future plays out at the Catalan club and if Man Utd make an attempt to try and sign him next summer.
