Manchester United had a massive summer in terms of spending – signing Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte. The Red Devils spent a whopping £205.9m on securing these signings.

However, the results on the pitch has not yet happened with Erik ten Hag still grappling with tactical issues.

The Dutch coach has not managed to get the best out of the players he has signed for the club, as of yet.

This has been a pattern in Erik ten Hag’s time at Man Utd. Antony, Casemiro, Rasmus Hojlund, Tyrell Malacia and other signings of the former Ajax manager so far have flattered to deceive with only a few performances of significance.

The only player who can walk with his head held high is Lisandro Martinez. Now, as per Football Insider, following Man Utd’s poor start to the season, the Dutchman will be under immense pressure to turn things around.

As per the report, after a summer of spending a massive £205.9m, one thing that Manchester United simply cannot afford is failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. This would have a catastrophic effect on their spending abilities next season.

The Red Devils are not playing in the Champions League this season either but with the reinforcements they have made, that would be the minimum expectation from the board.

As of now, Erik ten Hag is far away from making that happen.

If things don’t change for the better quickly, Man Utd will have to make a tough decision on their manager. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to it and it remains to be seen how it goes.
