Manchester United under Ruben Amorim will be looking to build towards a strong future. The Portuguese manager is set to take the job at Old Trafford next Monday as he looks to spearhead a new and hopefully successful era at the club.

Amorim has done an excellent job with Sporting CP over the years and it is a reward for his hard work that Manchester United have come calling.

The Portuguese tactician will be expected to bring his patented 3-4-3 formation to the club.

Of course, in his patented formation, there is a need for two flying wing-backs on either side. On the right side, Man Utd are sorted thanks to the presence of Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui, both of whom have been impressive in recent weeks.

However, on the other side, although Luke Shaw could be one of the very best in the world when fit, he has hardly managed to remain so these days, with the Englishman spending more time at the treatment table than out on the field.

This has prompted Man Utd to look at options in the market and they have identified Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies whose contract expires next summer.

As per Give Me Sport, the Canadian is prepared to agree £12.5million a year deal to join Old Trafford. Moreover, he also wants a £10m signing on bonus.

There aren’t many players you can think of who would suit the wing-back role in Ruben Amorim’s system better than Davies.

He is tailor-made to play in an attack-minded system and would be happy to have lesser defensive responsibilities.

It remains to be seen if Man Utd can convince Davies with their project to join them. It is too early to talk about it now and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
