United cult hero who is "best manager in the league" eyed by two Championship powerhouses - report

Former Manchester United striker Mark Robins is being eyed by West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City after being sacked by Coventry City last month.
The 55 year old started his youth career at Old Trafford and made 48 appearances for the club between 1988-1992.
Robins’ biggest contribution to the team was a winning goal in the 1990 FA Cup third round when United beat Nottingham Forest 1-0. It has gone down in United folklore that this goal saved Sir Alex Ferguson’s job at the club, as he was under immense pressure having not won a trophy in his first four years as coach.
Robins has since had a successful managerial career and was Coventry City boss from 2017 until last month.
The English coach took Coventry to the playoff final last season and they were on the brink of the FA Cup final but United squeezed past their former player on penalties after a chaotic 3-3 draw.
TBR football report that Robins may not need to wait too long to get back into the managerial game, however.
“TBR Football can exclusively confirm that Championship duo Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion are both keen on appointing a Manchester United cult hero as their new manager.”
Stoke fired Narcis Pelach after just three months in charge and Albion lost Carlos Corberan as he decided to join Valencia earlier this month.
As for Robins, “he was on Southampton and Leicester's shortlists to be their new manager, but now he could soon be back in work.”
Both Stoke and West Brom would present very different challenges as Stoke are flirting with relegation and West Brom are pushing for promotion, sitting just outside the playoff places.
Robins was the longest serving manager in the Championship before his dismissal and is highly rated at this level.
The former striker was described as “the best manager in this league” according to the Luton Town coach Rob Edwards.
