Manchester United are reportedly prepared to accept as little as £40milllion to permanently part ways with Marcus Rashford.
On Tuesday, it emerged that United are willing to offload Rashford, either in the January transfer window or during the summer.
The report stated that United are concerned about Rashford’s lifestyle off the pitch. It’s also understood that there are fears that football is no longer the England international’s primary priority, amidst a number of distractions preventing him from nailing down a consistent run of performances and results.
Rashford managed only eight goals across all competitions last season. While he has already scored seven in the 2024/25 campaign, it has been a patchy period for the forward, who has yet to cement himself as a regular starter under new manager Ruben Amorim.
United lack the funds for significant spending in January unless they generate revenue through player sales. As a homegrown talent, Rashford is an obvious candidate, as his transfer would result in pure profit on the club’s financial records.
Journalist Graeme Bailey relayed that Rashford and his representatives have yet to demonstrate a willingness to depart Old Trafford.
Bailey also insisted that United have not held discussions about selling Rashford.
However, rumours persist that the 27-year-old could be on his way out of the club. Now, The Daily Mail’s Chris Wheeler reveals that United are ready to listen to offers for Rashfird, starting at the £40m mark.
According to Wheeler, “Manchester United would consider offers of £40milllion for Marcus Rashford but accept there are unlikely to be any bidders for the England forward in the January transfer window, Mail Sport understands.”
“It's understood the 27-year-old's asking price would have been as much as £100m when he scored 30 goals in Erik ten Hag's first season at United. But Rashford's loss of form and the contract he signed last year worth a prohibitive £325,000-a-week means that his value has more than halved.”
“Even then, United are not anticipating any offers for Rashford who has started the last two games on the bench ahead of Thursday evening’s Europa League clash with Viktoria Plzen.”
Wheeler explains that another option for United is to sell either Kobbie Mainoo or Alejandro Garnacho, but the Red Devils are keen to avoid this outcome.
The other players United want to keep are Leny Yoro, Amad Diallo, Matthijs de Ligt, Bruno Fernandes, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte.
