No luck for the oft-forgotten Cap.

Newcastle United's vice-captain Kieran Trippier is expected to miss the club's Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion due to a muscular injury sustained during last weekend's goalless draw against Everton, The Athletic reported on Friday.

Trippier, 34, was forced off in the 71st minute of the match against the Toffees with what is now understood to be a hamstring problem.

Although the full extent of the injury is still being evaluated by Newcastle's medical team, early indications suggest that the veteran right-back could miss more games than Oct. 19's clash against Brighton.

Future games include matchups against Chelsea on Oct. 26 in the Premier League, and the Carabao Cup tie against the same Blues squad the week after that.

With five matches on the schedule between the October and November international breaks, Newcastle will be forced to take somewhat of a cautious approach with Trippier, who missed eight games last season due to a groin issue.

Starting on Nov. 2, Newcastle will face Arsenal at home before visiting Nottingham Forest on Nov. 10, with the three aforementioned matchups making it the five games on the Magpies' schedule before the next break.

Tino Livramento, who began the season as Newcastle's first-choice right-back, is likely to step in during Trippier's absence.

For what's worth, Livramento was called up into the England squad for the mid-October break and he's already more than a capable replacement for the aging and struggling Trippier.

In other news, The Athletic reported that both forwards Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson are on track to return for the Brighton match.

On top of that, 18-year-old midfielder Lewis Miley is expected to rejoin the squad in the coming weeks also coming off an injury of his own leaving him sidelined for the recent games played by the Magpies.
