The Magpies might be cooking a backup plan in case they lose Alexander Isak.

Newcastle United are eyeing Eintracht Frankfurt's prolific striker Omar Marmoush as a potential replacement should Alexander Isak leave the club, according to Caught Offside.

The Egyptian forward, valued at £58 million, has emerged as one of Europe's most explosive attackers, with comparisons to Isak and even Kylian Mbappe, and is seemingly tracked by the likes of Man City, Aston Villa, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

Marmoush has netted 18 goals in 24 games this season and boasts a skill set that mirrors Isak's but outshines the Swedish star in several areas.

The 24-year-old excels in metrics like shot-creating actions, progressive carries, and touches in the attacking penalty area, making him a standout candidate for Newcastle's attacking line while not cornering him as a pure, through-and-through no. 9 striker and finisher.

Frankfurt manager Dino Topmoller recently described Marmoush as "outstanding," a sentiment reflected in his consistent performances in the Bundesliga, and one certainly geared toward keeping his value as high as possible in the event of a potential sale during the winter transfer window or next summer.

Marmoush's goal-scoring prowess and style of play, moving from the third fourth of the pitch forward, have attracted attention from multiple Premier League clubs, with Manchester City reportedly leading the race.

While Newcastle has placed a staggering £150 million price tag on their star striker, interest from Arsenal and other top clubs continues to swirl, and if the Sweden international leaves then the door will be kicked open for the Magpies to enter the Marmoush sweepstakes in full.

If Isak stays put, let alone inks a contract extension, odds are Newcastle don't enter the race to sign Marmoush as it's not the most-needed type of player with a right-winger and a center-back leading the to-do list in terms of short-term additions during this and future transfer windows.
