Will the Magpies land the next Haaland?

Newcastle United did scout and is still actively scouting potential forward options, with Sweden international Viktor Gyokeres and Norwegian teenager Sindre Walle Egeli on their radar, according to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail.

Newcastle scouts closely monitored Gyokeres during his final season with Coventry City before his £20.5 million move to Sporting Lisbon in 2023, Hope reported.

The 25-year-old's value has since soared, with Premier League clubs now reportedly considering bids of around £80 million to get the lad back to the homeland. Gyokeres' recent international performances alongside Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, have further solidified his reputation as a top attacking talent and seem to have turned NUFC's interest up a notch again.

In addition, Newcastle are tracking 18-year-old Norwegian forward Sindre Walle Egeli, who has been dubbed "the next Erling Haaland" if only because of his nationality.

The young striker made his international debut earlier this month and has already generated significant interest. He's considered a physical, goal-scoring talent and has shown versatility across the forward line.

Egeli joined FC Nordsjaelland from Sandefjord 14 months ago, and his current club is expected to demand a fee in the region of £21 million, per Hope's report.

Egeli put up a remarkable youth-level goal record bagging 32 goals in 35 games for Norway, surpassing even Haaland's youth tally before making his ultimate breakout while at BVB.

However, securing Egeli's signature will be challenging, as several European clubs are said to be keen on the forward, Hope wrote. Newcastle remains intent on strengthening their attacking options, and both Gyökeres and Egeli could provide long-term solutions for the Magpies, although as things stand any of those two arrivals seems a bit far-fetched at this point and doesn't feel like a certain thing to happen soon.
