Aston Villa are on the verge of pulling out of a deal for Loic Bade, talkSPORT understands.

talkSPORT reported that Villa are working on a move for the Sevilla centre-back to replace Diego Carlos, who has joined Fenerbahce.

However, Frenchman Bade is believed to have had second thoughts on the move and negotiations have stalled.

The 24-year-old previously joined Nottingham Forest on loan from Rennes in 2022 but didn’t make a single appearance for the club.

Bade’s deal was terminated in January 2023 and he then completed a loan move to Sevilla before signing permanently that summer.

He has made 63 appearances in LaLiga and played in the Champions League, but looks unlikely to return to the Premier League at Villa.

Unai Emery’s side are currently without centre-back Pau Torres after he suffered a metatarsal injury in their 2-2 draw with Brighton.

The Spaniard is set to be sidelined until the end of February and has since been replaced by Tyrone Mings in the Villa backline.

Mings and Ezri Konsa have been the go-to centre-back duo for Emery in their last three Premier League matches.

Sil Swinkels and Lamare Bogarde are other options for the position.

However, both players are 21 years old so Villa may prefer to make a more experienced signing this month.

talkSPORT reported earlier in January their advanced talks with Celta Vigo for Oscar Mingueza, who can play right-back and centre-back.

Formerly of Barcelona, Mingueza has 18 months left on his contract and featured for the Spanish national team on two occasions.

Villa have made two signings this window, the first of which was winger Donyell Malen in a £24million move from Borussia Dortmund.

They then welcomed the arrival of right-back Andres Garcia from Levante for a reported £6m.

Villa host West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday following their 1-0 defeat to Monaco in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
