It’s understood that the Black Cats value Bellingham at £20million.

Palace are keen to strengthen their squad this month and believe that the 19-year-old fits the bill.

Having joined from Birmingham City in the summer of 2023, Bellingham has gone on to become a key player for the Championship giants.

After scoring seven times in 47 games in his first season, the midfielder has starred this term with four goals and three assists in 22 appearances.

His performances have even attracted superstar attention, with his brother Jude Bellingham a regular spectator of his matches for Sunderland.

For Palace, a move for Bellingham would be the continuation of a transfer strategy that has served them well in recent years.

Last January saw the Eagles complete a £22million deal to sign Adam Wharton from Blackburn.

Like Bellingham, the young midfielder was one of the hottest young talents in the Championship and went on to become an instant hit in the Premier League and even received a call for England’s Euro 2024 squad.

Recent years have seen Palace regularly dip into the EFL for new signings, having recruited Eberechi Eze from QPR and Michael Olise from Reading.

Meanwhile, Marc Guehi signed from Chelsea following his successful loan spell with Swansea City.

Bellingham isn’t the only current Championship star on their radar though.

Palace recently had a £15m offer rejected for talented winger Ben Doak, talkSPORT understands.

The Liverpool starlet is currently on loan with Middlesbrough and has shone with two goals and six assists in 21 Championship games.

Ipswich then submitted a £16m bid, though that was also swiftly rebuffed.

It is believed that Arne Slot’s side are looking for offers in excess of £25m.

As of now, it remains to be seen whether either the Eagles or the Tractor Boys will return with improved offers for the youngster.
