'Nothing lasts forever' – Simon Jordan slams 'ungracious' Liverpool fans over Pep Guardiola chants

Liverpool fans are ‘ungracious’ and showed a lack of respect to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
That’s the view of talkSPORT co-host Simon Jordan, who has stated Reds supporters relishing the Citizens’ demise has left a bad taste in his mouth.
Guardiola reminded the Liveprool fans at how many Premier League titles he has won[/caption]Liverpool beat City 2-0 at Anfield on Sunday – condemning a fourth consecutive Premier League defeat on their title rivals.
Goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah proved to be the difference to extend the Merseyside outfit’s lead over City to 11 points.
Cheeky jeers of ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ were aimed at Guardiola by the Liverpool faithful in the closing stages.
The Spaniard smirked at the song and stuck up six fingers to signify his six Premier League titles from the touchline, and once again at the away end at full-time.
Despite Guardiola seeing the funny side, or at least looking like he did, Liverpool fans’ behaviour didn't sit well with ex-Crystal Palace owner Jordan.
He said on White and Jordan: "There is an element of the Liverpool fan base that's one of the most ungracious fan bases when it comes to giving respect to other football clubs, based upon the fact they hate losing.
“We had a caller last week who spent his entire time, telling me at full pelt that I had attributed no glory to Liverpool because about eight weeks ago, I'd said they haven't beaten anyone yet, which eight weeks ago they hadn't.
“Running the same argument now and having had my team go up there under my ownership and every time we played Liverpool, you got a result at Liverpool – the fans were bloody awful.
"Their fans didn't like you celebrating goals, didn't like you doing anything, in the director's box, I was told to sit down when we beat them 2-0 in the FA Cup by their stewards because they didn't think it was appropriate we were celebrating a goal even though they can celebrate what they want.
"I thought Pep Guardiola's reaction was fine, he's won six, you can't seriously take it seriously.
“I don't think he did and I think the important observation that he made was when you win you laugh and when you lose people laugh at you and that's a fact.
"And he can see that and he's big enough and bold enough to understand it, I think he did it with a sense of humour.
“Guardiola goes it's a simple fact of the matter you can call for me to be sacked, but I have won six Premier Leagues in a row and nothing lasts forever.”
Arne Slot’s side was in control for a large majority of the game, with Salah and Virgil van Dijk both missing numerous golden chances in what could have been a rout.
City, on the other hand, looked a far cry from the serial trophy-winning side fans are more accustomed to, with the club now seven games without a win in all competitions.
They now hold the unwanted record of becoming the first defending Premier League champions to lose four consecutive matches in the competition.
Speaking to Sky Sports in his post-match interview, Guardiola addressed the chants and his gesture to the Liverpool fans.
He remarked: “Maybe they are right! I didn’t expect that at Anfield. Maybe they should’ve sung it in the past. I didn’t expect it from the people from Liverpool, but it’s fine!"
The City manager’s reaction also struck a chord with Liverpool fan Phil, who rang White and Jordan to provide his take on the situation.
"I think Pep is one of the best managers this country has ever seen," he said. "He's better than all of us, as in all the supporters all the Liverpool fans."
"For years fans have chanted this ironic, jokey line of, 'You're getting sacked in the morning.'
“No Liverpool fan thinks he's going to get sacked in the morning because he'll probably go on and win the Champions League and they'll finish strong.
"The fact he reacted the way he did in my opinion shows how thin-skinned he is.
“He should be above us and just ignore it because he then mentioned it after the game as well.
"So in a funny way where Liverpool fans did it really ironically we've kind of won when we never thought there was a competition to go after and it's quite funny seeing the way he's reacted."
Guardiola will be hoping to truly silence any doubters on Wednesday night when City host high-flying Nottingham Forest, who sit one point behind them in the table.
