Arsenal begin their FA Cup campaign with a high-profile third-round clash against defending champions Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle United at home in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday night. The result followed their 1-1 away draw with Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta will be a seeking a response from his boys against Ruben Amorim's Man United, who come into this fixture off the back of a credible 2-2 Premier League draw with Liverpool at Anfield.

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal are without Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White. Therefore, it is likely to be more or less the same squad that played against Newcastle United on Tuesday.

Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Manchester United (4-3-3)

Goalkeeper

David Raya is an easy pick in goal for the Gunners. The Spaniard will be keen to shut the shop as quickly as possible against Man United.

Defence

Arteta will stick to a 4-3-3 formation, with Jurrien Timber, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes retaining their spots in defence. The only change that could take place is Riccardo Calafiori coming in for young Myles Lewis-Skelly at left-back.

The Arsenal back four have to be switched on from the onset until the last to keep a clean sheet. They will be looking to exploit Man United's weaknesses from corners and set-plays like they did last time out in the 2-0 league win at home when Timber and Saliba scored.

Midfield

The Spanish tactician may freshen up his midfield on Sunday. Jorginho, who came on as a substitute against Newcastle, could be handed a start here. The Italian, if he starts, will act as the anchor, allowing Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard to thrive in advanced areas of the pitch.

The midfield troika must function well to increase Arsenal's chances of beating Man United. Thomas Partey and Mikel Merino will bring physicality and energy if introduced off the bench.

Attack

Gabriel Jesus is certain to be recalled into the side after coming off the bench against Newcastle. The Brazilian should lead the Arsenal attack instead of Kai Havertz, who could be pushed to the right flank. In that case, Leandro Trossard will be sacrificed from the XI with Gabriel Martinelli keeping his spot on the left wing.

Trossard has the qualities to change the game off the bench. Raheem Sterling, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior may get opportunities to show their worth to the team.
