Manchester City are under immense pressure to get their season back on track as they host Feyenoord at the Etihad Stadium in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Sky Blues are in the midst of a dire run of form, having lost five consecutive games across all competitions. Their 4-0 defeat at home to Tottenham on Saturday was their fifth consecutive loss, piling more misery on Pep Guardiola.
The 4-1 defeat to Sporting CP in Portugal last month left Pep Guardiola's outside of the automatic UCL qualification places in 10th spot in the 36-team table. Feyenoord will be underdogs at the Etihad Stadium will no doubt be taking confidence from Sporting's performance and causing more problems to the English champions.
Manchester City Team News
Manchester City remain without Rodri, Mateo Kovacic and Oscar Bobb for the visit of Feyenoord, which Ruben Dias is also expected to miss as he works his way back from a calf concern.
Jeremy Doku could recover in time from a thigh injury to feature in the European outing.
Predicted Manchester City lineup vs Feyenoord (4-2-3-1)
Goalkeeper
Ederson conceded four goals against Tottenham last weekend, so he will be raring to keep a clean sheet in midweek. Of course, the Brazilian will expect more protection from his defenders.
Defence
Josko Gvardiol had an extremely poor outing against Tottenham and could make way for Nathan Ake at left-back. John Stones is expected to partner Manuel Akanji at the heart of City's defence, hoping to keep the Feyenoord attackers quiet. Kyle Walker, despite his recent struggles with form and fitness issues, will retain his spot at right-back.
Midfield
Kevin De Bruyne came off the bench against Spurs and had somewhat of a positive impact, so should start against Feyenoord. Ilkay Gundogan must form the double pivot with Rico Lewis in the middle of the park, looking to dictate the tempo of the game from the first blow of the whistle.
Matheus Nunes will again have to be content with a spot on the bench.
Attack
Jack Grealish is pushing for a start after coming off the bench in the 4-0 defeat to Tottenham. He will try to impress from the left, with Phil Foden hoping to get the nod ahead of Savinho on the right.
The duo will be responsible for creating opportunities from wide areas for Erling Haaland, who should lead the attack against Feyenoord. The big Norwegian must be desperate to get back in the scoresheet after firing a blank last weekend.
